the Style
What to Wear
You are not limited to the amount of clothing you bring during your session, but the more organized you are and the faster you change, the more photographs we can take.
Make sure you bring more than enough if you aren’t sure of your final decisions, and we will help you make your final choices for the number of outfits you booked.
Bring at least one outfit that your parents love and you hate — “The Parent Pleaser” — and bring at least one outfit that you love and your parents hate — “The Senior Pleaser.”
Color & Color Combos
Combining colors that complement each other is wonderful. For example, a gorgeous cobalt blue with an electric yellow.
Blue and yellow are complementary colors that are pleasing to the eye and will help enhance your portraits.
When going for color combinations, work with colors that are in the same “family shade,” for example: yellows, creams, and tans.
Color can be found in any clothing, accessories, or even shoes. Simply pair a cute white top with jeans and red shoes, and you’re set!
Textures & Patterns
When adding texture and patterns to your wardrobe, it can be a variety of things. A knitted scarf during winter, patterns on maxi skirts, tops, and even pants.
When you add a texture or a pattern element to your outfits, it can enhance your images.
Arrangement of Styles
You want to be sure to bring an assortment of styles.
Something casual, like a cute tee, cardigan, a pair of jeans, and your favorite shoes.
How about something dressy, like a gorgeous black dress with amazing heels?
Also, consider where you will be shooting. Fields? Forests? Alleys?
If all else fails, just bring your entire closet, and we can assist you during your wardrobe styling.
Don’t forget to bring a pair of comfortable shoes to walk around in; walking forever in heels can take its toll on your feet.
Hair
Avoid changing your hairstyle or cutting your hair right before your session. Let it be natural.
Quick, easy hairstyle changes during your session are okay, but make them quick, or you’ll lose camera time.
Bring your hair care tools and products with you if needed. Although we try to assist with hair, it’s challenging to know exactly how you want it, so ensure you like the look or inform us of your preferences.
Ultimately, your hairstyle is your responsibility.

Accessories & Shoes
Accessories elevate your session from ordinary to fabulous.
We love to photograph a variety of items, including prom dresses, cheerleading uniforms, casual wear like baggy jeans and T-shirts, party dresses, jerseys, bandanas, favorite college gear, baseball caps, hats, heels, boots, layers, jackets, sweaters, gloves, skirts, dresses, pants, capris, shorts, jeans, jean skirts, distressed jeans, winter hats, scarves, coats with hoods, and fur.
If you have different jewelry for different outfits, consider placing each set in a plastic baggie and hanging it on the hanger with that outfit.
Remember to bring complete looks from head to toe.
Makeup & Nails
Makeup should be slightly heavier than your everyday look, but not too much.
Ensure your makeup is fresh, as expired products can yield unpredictable results.
Mascara should be clean with no clumps.
Avoid makeup with sparkles, as it can create unwanted shine in photos. Similarly, avoid makeup with SPF, as it can cause shine.
Use translucent powder to control summer shine without adding additional color.
Ensure nails are well-groomed and avoid chipped polish.
Tanning & Sunburn
Avoid tan lines and sunburn, as they are unflattering in portraits.
Moisturize to prevent dry, cracked-looking skin.
Sunburn and peeling skin do not photograph well and cannot be retouched.
Complexion
Minor blemishes will be retouched, so don’t worry too much about breakouts.
