A Guide You’ll Love
Your formal portrait session is quick, polished, and easy. We’ll guide you every step of the way so you can relax and feel comfortable from the moment you arrive.
From drape and tux to cap and gown, we’ll take care of the details. This guide will help you know what to wear, what to bring, and how to feel prepared before your appointment.

We’ll welcome you, confirm which formal portraits you’re taking, and walk you through what happens next.

Our team will help with the drape, tux, cap, gown, and small details so everything looks polished before your portrait.

After your portraits are taken, you’ll choose your yearbook image before you leave. A parent or decision maker is helpful for this step.
What to Wear

Wear a tank top or a top that can easily slide off the shoulders. The drape is worn over your clothing and styled by our team.
A strapless bra, clear straps, or removable straps help keep the neckline clean. Bring any jewelry you would like visible, especially pearls, necklaces, or earrings.
Keep makeup natural and classic. Simple, everyday looks photograph best.

Please wear a plain white t-shirt. We provide the tux shirt, tux jacket, and bow tie for your portrait.
Tux portraits are cropped from mid-chest and up, so there is no need to worry about pants or shoes for this portrait.

We provide the cap and gown. Boys should wear a white button-down shirt and school tie.
Girls should wear a simple top with a modest neckline. Avoid bulky collars, hoodies, or anything that creates bumps under the gown.

Don’t overthink the formal portrait. You don’t have to know how to pose, how the drape works, or exactly what expression to make. That’s what we’re here for. We’ll guide the details, help everything look polished, and make sure your final image feels classic and yearbook-ready.

Tom would probably wear a Hawaiian shirt to a formal portrait. Luckily, we have better wardrobe advice for seniors.
